The striking workers said they will not return to work without their union leaders whom Sto. Tomas had ordered dismissed.
On Friday, Sto. Tomas declared the strike which began Nov. 6 illegal and dismissed 35 officers of the Central Azucarera de Tarlac Labor Union (CATLU) who had led it.[Inq7.Net]
Well, wala naman talaga akoong ilusyon na papaboran ng DOLE ang kahilingan ng mga CATLU. Kaya nga kalokohan lang itong statement na ito ni Patricia Sto. Tomas-
"I urge the striking workers to follow the rule of law. In that way, we can restore peace and harmony at Hacienda Luisita while we resolve the motion for reconsideration.[Inq7.Net]"
Eh di lalo nang nawalan ng leverage ang unyon kung magpapauto sila kay Sto. Tomas. Kung wala na ang strike at continous na ang oepration sa Azucarera, eh di wala na nga namang problema ang mga Cojuancos! Yun yata ang peace and harmony na tinutukoy nya? Tsk!
At tsaka, why not urge the Cojuancos to follow the rule of law by giving what is due to their workers and to respect the workers' right? Hindi yung hinahayaang i-massacre ang mga manggagawang nagigiit lang naman ng kanilang karapatan? Nitong nakraan lang, 2 striker na naman ang pinatay! Obyus na obyus kung kanino nakapanig si Sto Tomas...
